Round 2 of Strawberries

2 Jul 2018 15:06:44

With this beautiful weather our strawberry plants have been going crazy and given us ample amounts of fruit to use in the restaurant, sell in the shop and make yummy jam & ice-cream with!

This weekend we have recycled the older strawberry plants and given half of our polytunnels a good clean out and strim ready for the new. This weekend our planting team have been very busy popping rows and rows of our young plants into our large polytunnels - so in just a couple of weeks we will have a brand new fresh crop to harvest.

Cheeky blackbird

The planting team got up extra early to avoid the high temperatures we’ve been enjoying and as well as re-potting hundreds of young strawberry plants they had to make sure the watering system in each polytunnel was evenly spaced and working so the new plants can thrive. Even the balckbirds have been taking advantage of the clearing out and grabbing as many worms as they can!

Watching the plants grow and produce such sweet tasting fruit never gets old.

  • My family and I visited last Sunday for the roast dinner and all I can say is wow.

The portions were generous and there was plenty of meat, on both the small and large plates, and a good selection of veg. Everything was cooked perfectly and it was piping hot… There is also a great selection of desserts and the apple pie was delicious.

If you are ever in the area do yourself a favour and visit!

  • The farm shop is well stocked with an in house Bakery and Butchery department, all offering excellent produce, much produced by the proprietors themselves and all beautifully displayed.
