Lifton Farm Shop is becoming renowned for our traditional up front bakery and our ever growing range of bread, morning goods, pasties and savoury goods. So, we were ecstatic to be awarded 1st prize for our large white tin loaf at the Western Bakery Championships on October 4th 2015, fending off all the well-known bakeries in the South West. We all feel very proud of our bakery team for winning this award. Other awards included our very own chia loaf, gluten free loaf, specialised pasty and a decorated Battenberg cake.
Our bakery has centre stage in our bustling farm shop and the team are baking for all to see which creates such a fantastic aroma. The bread is cooked daily from scratch using Mathews English flour and we have many speciality loaves to include multi seed, spelt and chia to name a few – not forgetting of course our gluten free loaf which also won an award. We are a traditional bakery creating everyone’s favourites such as saffron, bread pudding and Chelsea buns amongst others seven days a week.
Pasties are also very popular and the new recipe egg and bacon won 2nd prize in the innovative pasty competition. This recipe was created in conjunction with Tregadillett Primary school earlier in the year to help the pupils with their project on sourcing local food ingredients. Our bestselling pasty is our traditional steak with swede which are always available to satisfy the heartiest appetite, along with the ever popular cheese and onion.
With the triumph of the award now pushing us towards Christmas, we are now making our Christmas puddings, cakes, mince pies and stolen all of which can be sampled at our Christmas tasting event on 27th – 29th November. So please put the date in your diary to visit our award winning bakery soon!
